We educate the young people of our community to effectively practice Aikido as a way of peace.
We do this by providing a safe, clean, loving environment where children practice the discipline of Aikido in order to lead themselves through life with grace, compassion, empathy, and inner strength. The teachings we give our children increase their capacity to concentrate their attention, focus, and positive will to achieve any task set before them. We give them the tools that assist them to remember that their inherent safety is the confident expression of their truest selves. We strengthen our students to take action for the loving protection of all beings, and we teach them to cultivate a practice of sustained effort for the realization of their long-term goals. The belt ranking system for our children is based on number of classes attended, individual effort, basic understanding of technique and terminology, positive participation in community, as well as increasing skill and use of Aikido tools and philosophy in daily life. Students entering the Ongoing Kids Classes start with a white belt and progress through yellow, orange, green, purple, red, blue and finally, brown, which will take a minimum of 3 years.
